Why open source rocks!

First off, "open source" usually describes applications (we'll keep it to the online realm for the sake of brevity) designed to allow access to the source code to other developers, and is free. One of the biggest examples of open source that comes to mind is Mozilla Firefox...the browser I am typing this very blog into! If you haven't already, do yourself a favour and get it!
In my day-to-day surfing, I usually come across a few new web-based apps that really blow me away. Some are paid, some are open source. The thing that constantly comes to my mind when talking open source, is "limitless possibilities".
When you've got a planet full of developers able to integrate their own ideas into a stable, popular platform, there's room for bountiful growth and outside-of-the-box thinking.
Going back to Mozilla Firefox, there is a very extensive list of 'add-ons' (or plugins) available to enhance your browsing...from simple browser aesthetic customization, to incredibly powerful development tools, all made possible by an open source platform by Mozilla.
So long as there is open source products available, the sky is the limit in terms of what the future holds.
